Chief Estimator

Job Title: Chief Estimator
Salary: $150K-185K
Requirements: 10+ years of civil estimating experience required. Highway/roadway, residential/commercial site development, Agtek and HCSS Heavybid experience also required.

Job Location: This is a remote role with monthly visits to the Harwinton CT office. Visits would be more frequent and longer during the early months of employment then as needed when in a regular cadence. 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department and oversee all estimating functions for heavy civil projects. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for developing and managing project estimates, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating team in preparing comprehensive cost estimates for heavy civil projects.
• Review and analyze project plans and specifications to determine scope of work and required resources.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy in estimates and project budgets.
• Prepare detailed estimates for highway, roadway, site development, and utility projects.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost data to improve future bidding processes.
• Monitor market trends and pricing for materials and labor to inform estimates.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for prospective clients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating within the heavy civil construction industry.
• Proven experience in estimating for highway, roadway, site development, and municipal projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior estimators.
• Expertise in cost estimating software and tools.
