Cable Technician – Contract-to-Hire

• Monday–Thursday: 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Friday: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
• Saturday: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM

💼 Type: Contract-to-Perm

⏳ Duration: 3 Months (with potential for permanent hire)

💲 Pay Rate: $25/hour

Job Summary

A San Diego-based company is seeking Cable Assembly Technicians to support a Navy-related program. Technicians will be responsible for assembling cables, building connectors, and performing internal cabling for equipment racks. Projects vary in complexity, with cable sizes ranging from 26 to 8 gauge and assembly times ranging from 1 to 10 hours. Most connectors used are cannon-style.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cable assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Proficient with hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, crimpers, wire strippers)
• Experience working with wires and assembling connectors

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic soldering skills
• Background in electronics or wiring
• Fiber optic qualification
• IPC-A-610 soldering certification

Typical Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network and telecommunications equipment
• Perform cable assembly, including working with fiber optics, coaxial, and copper cables
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting of circuits and network components
• Use tools and equipment such as crimpers, wire strippers, oscilloscopes, and T1/DS3 test sets
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including repairs, updates, and configurations
• Support military and government programs, often in secure or mission-critical environments
